François Etienne, clarinettist

Mozart - Clarinet Concerto in A major K622

    I. Allegro (2½ sides)
    II. Adagio (1½ sides)
    III. Rondo (2 sides)

L' Orchestre de Chambre Hewitt, Maurice Hewitt
François Etienne, clarinet

Les Discophiles Français 8-10
Matrices PART 1695 to 1700, all first takes (M6-102645/50)
Recorded July 1941

Side 2 begins slightly below pitch – this has been corrected.

A recording of this work by Etienne and Hewitt was reissued by EMI France on a Références LP, together with the Clarinet Quintet, played by Etienne and the Vegh Quartet. Internet sources suggest a 1954 date for the recording. This recording on 78s, however, is listed in the 1951-2 WERM supplement as 10” reissue on D.Fr.2 of 12” originals. The 1941 date is suggested by the M6 numbers. It may be that Etienne recorded this concerto twice.
